Art Application - 2025

Open to graduating 12th-grade seniors, female and male, in all public high schools in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Each student may submit only one work of art. The work must be the ORIGINAL work of the student and have been completed within the past year. 

All Applicants must submit a digital photo of their art. 

Judging will be done in person for this competition. 
- Physical drop-off will take place at Selby Public Library (1331 1st St, Sarasota, FL 34236). 
- Art must be dropped off at Selby Public Library on Saturday, March 8, 2025, between 11:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. 
- It will then need to be picked up between 1 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. on March 8, 2025. 
 
Submitting a digital image of your art: 
- Size limits for each digital image should be between 1200-1500 pixels on the long side, 72 ppi, with a file size less than 2 Mb. 
- The accepted formats are .gif, .jpg, png.  
Please title your work: ‘firstname_lastname_artwork title’, school, size, and medium (oil, digital, watercolor, acrylic, photography, sculpture, etc). 

Optional: You may upload a second photo of your artwork.

Rules for ART application:
  1. The minimum size should be 11 x 14 or 12 x 12 or larger, mounted, and matted. 
  2. All art should have a name, title, school, and contact information as well as the title of your piece, medium, and process on the top right back corner for hanging art or tagged for ceramic, or sculptural art. 
  3. For Digital Art entries – No AI generative or prompt engineering AI will be accepted. Please describe your process for digital art.
  4. All art should be exhibition-ready for display. Please review the criteria for jurors’ selection below. 
  5. Picture frame wire should not extend above the frame. Picture frame wire is a multi-strand wire. Do not use monofilament. No sawtooth hangers. 
  6. Screw eyes/D-rings and hanging wire MUST be attached firmly to the back of the piece with screws. Works on canvas must be framed or have finished edges. 
  7. Gallery-wrapped canvas is acceptable, provided that no staples are showing, and the edges are clean and free of smudges and smears that are not in keeping with the stylistic intent of the artwork.
 
Selected award recipients are invited to an Awards luncheon on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at the Prestancia County Club. Framed art must accompany the artist for exhibition viewing.
