The Music Composition category recognizes original musical compositions. Open to graduating 12th-grade seniors, female and male, in all public high schools in Sarasota and Manatee Counties. Each student may submit only one piece. The work must be the ORIGINAL work of the student and have been completed within the past year.
Winners of the music category will be asked to perform their entered piece.
Music Rules:
- Only one piece may be submitted per student.
- A recording of your piece is required for the application. (It can be the sound file produced by the software or a live recording.)
- A PDF version from software such as Finale is preferred. Handwritten entries are acceptable if they are on standard music paper and must be legible.
- Entries may not contain melodies, accompaniments, or any other elements automatically generated by computer software.
- The title and instrumentation must be clearly marked on each page. If scored for instruments other than piano, piano reduction must be included.
- Composition must be entirely the original work of the student.
- Name of student, school, and teacher should be included on the first page.
